Dr. Blaylock named new director for Marine Aquaculture Center on Gulf Coast

The University of Southern Mississippi named a new director for the Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center located at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.

Dr. Reginald Blaylock said it is an honor to continue the work of previous directors and to advance the science of marine aquaculture and integrate it into the Blue Economy.

Dr. Blaylock has made contributions to the aquaculture program since 2004, but played a major role in rebuilding the program following Hurricane Katrina.

He was appointed to assistant director of the Marine Aquaculture Center in 2007 and became the interim director in 2022.
