Donations For Gatlinburg First Responders

There is also a donation effort happening here on the Gulf Coast. Gulfport High School, Anniston and Bayou View Elementary Schools are collecting cases of water, sports drinks, and small snacks. A teacher at Gulfport High got in contact with a man on Facebook who plans to take two trailers to Gatlinburg this weekend to deliver the items to first responders. This is a quick drive to collect items but school officials tell News 25 they want to do anything they can to help those battling the flames in Gatlinburg.

“I visit Gatlinburg every year and you know really love it up there, I’m from West Virginia originally so the mountains are near and dear to my heart, and just seeing the devastation they’re going through and just thinking about the first responders and being in that environment with the wind and everything like that just really touched my heart I felt like we needed to try and do something to help them out.”

Anyone can drop off items for the first responders at the main office of the three Gulfport schools. The collection ends this Friday at 3 pm.
