Donate Leftover Beads from Mardi Gras
If you’re wondering what to do with all those leftover Mardi Gras beads, here’s an idea: the North Bay Civitan Club, Gulf Coast Industries and Chick-fil-A have teamed up for their annual bead-a-thon.
They’re asking for anyone with leftover beads to bag them and bring them to your nearest Chick-fil-A restaurant. For a 12 pound bag, which is about a grocery bag full, you can get a coupon for a free entrée. The Chick-fil-A locations in D’iberville, Gulfport and in the Edgewater Mall are all helping the Civitan Club live up to their organization’s international goals. North Bay Civitan Club president Keith Wilson said, “Civitan International has a focus that deals with people with developmental disabilities. So, our Civitan Club always tries to do service projects related to that mission. At Gulf Coast Industries, the employees there that have developmental disabilities, they’re going to sort, sanitize and re-package and re-sell the beads as part of their Throw-M-Again bead recycling program.”
The bead-a-thon will last through Saturday at 2 p.m.
