Donald Trump has begun his Inauguration Day alongside much of his incoming Cabinet with a prayer service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, near the White House.

The Republican will take the oath of office saying he returns to the presidency “confident and optimistic” it’s the start of a “new era of national success.”

A Trump official says the incoming president plans to try to strike a hopeful tone and call for unity. Trump’s return is without precedent in American history.

On Monday at noon Trump will become the 47th president, overcoming impeachments, criminal indictments and assassination attempts.

Trump takes charge as Republicans assume unified control of Washington, giving him a fresh opportunity to reshape the country.
