Dolphin rescued by IMMS finds forever home in Florida
Gulfport, Miss. (WXXV)- The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies shares some exciting news.
A rough-toothed dolphin named Dagny – rescued by IMMS back in 2018 – has found her forever home at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida.
Dagny came to IMMS following Hurricane Michael, the organization receiving a call about a dolphin in distress in Biloxi.
The team worked to rehabilitate Dagny, sharing that rough-toothed dolphins are rarely found in the Mississippi Sound as they are usually found in deeper waters.
Tests concluded Dagny suffered from hearing loss, being unable to echolocate to find food or other dolphins.
The government deemed her non-releasable, leading Dagny to her home in Florida.
