‘Dog’s Night Out’ Slumber Party
The Hyatt Place in Biloxi has gone to the dogs, but it’s all for a good cause.
The Humane Society of South Mississippi teamed up with the hotel for its annual ‘Dog’s Night Out.’ People checking in between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. got the chance to snag a shelter dog for a night.
The pups sat in the lobby and families who took a dog got a goodie bag filled with all the slumber party necessities.
Those involved say this event is important for the community as well as the shelter dogs. Hyatt Place Marketing Director Lara Alley said, “I think it is important to give back to the community and also raise awareness. People spend a lot of money on their dogs and we have a lot of dogs here at home that are looking for a loving home.”
Adoption Counselor Chelsea Carpenter said, “It is so great. Sometimes they just need a night to get out and not be in the shelter. It can get kind of loud and some of them aren’t really meant for a shelter life so even getting them out for a night does wonders for them.”
