Do you have a young hunter? Don’t forget their hunter safety course

It’s almost hunting season and the Mississippi State Extension Service is offering a hunter education courses.

Anyone 12 years of age or older must take and pass a hunter education course in order to hunt alone.

Classes are scheduled through March 2025, with several classes on the Coast already full.

Classes in South Mississippi still available are:

  • November 9, 2024, Pearl River Community College, Poplarville
  • February 15, 2025 at Academy Sports and Outdoors in D’Iberville

There also are several classes outside South Mississippi that have online seats available.

The classes are open to anyone 10 years old and up.Registration is available at education.mdwfp.com/web/event/classes

The class is limited to the first 25 people.
