Disturbance leads to arrest in George County; Lawnmower towed after subject attempted escape

George County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a disturbance call at Town & Country Gas Station on Hwy 198 East, in the Multi Mart Community of George County, MS.

Upon arrival, Deputies encountered an irate male who had been causing a disturbance in the gas station and threatening employees. This individual had previously been trespassed from the property. During the altercation with Deputies, the male subject was repeatedly belligerent and vulgar towards officers, and became physically violent, punching out a headlight on his truck at a neighboring property.

Repeatedly ignoring officers’ commands, the male eventually attempted to leave the area driving a lawnmower. Officers were able to stop the lawnmower further down the road and remove the subject from it without injury, at which time ASAP EMS personnel were able to check on the male’s injuries incurred from punching his truck.

Once cleared by medical personnel, the male subject was taken into custody and transported to the George County Regional Correctional Facility, where he was booked in on one charge of Disorderly Conduct – Failure to Comply with Law Enforcement.

The lawnmower was towed by a local towing company. The male subject is currently in custody with a hold from the Sheriff’s Office and awaits an initial appearance before George County Justice Court Judge Martin Seib. More charges may be pending.

This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information about this or any other crime, please contact the George County Sheriff’s Office at 601.947.4811.
