Discover D’Iberville App
Apple’s “There’s an app for that” slogan is now influencing officials and community leaders in the City of D’Iberville to create an app that brings more tourists to the area. News 25’s Kendra Turley tells us more about the city’s soon to be released “Discover D’Iberville.”
“Discover D’Iberville” is an initiative that’s been in the works for over a year now. City planners designed the interactive platform as a way to create a brand and show the world all that the area has to offer. Bryan Rodgers with Loyalty Systems, LLC said, “The wording rolled out well in the name ‘Discover D’Iberville.’ But also, just to capture the essence of when you come, as either a tourist or a local, looking for something to do, you’re discovering.”
With the recent completion of interstate road work and the grand opening of the city’s very first casino, the Scarlet Pearl, city planners were eager to find a way to encourage more people to stop and discover the city rather than just pass through it. D’Iberville City Planner Jeff Taylor said, “We had no convenient way of informing anybody either in print or on the website of all the businesses that do exist in D’Iberville and literally there’s over 500 of them, most of which are in the entertainment, retail, food and beverage and that sort of thing.”
The multi-platform is a combination of a mobile app, a marketing website and the city’s existing social media platform. “Discover D’Iberville” will allow individuals the opportunity to pay their water bill, download coupons to their favorite restaurants and discover a new hangout spot, all without leaving the mobile app.
In an effort to spotlight business owners and entrepreneurs in the area, city planners held a meeting at city hall to encourage those seeking a wide range of promotion to sign up for a free listing on the mobile app. D’Iberville business owner Jim Fiore said, “It’s giving more people the ability to touch businesses in the area. It’s a way for people to see companies or businesses that they might not even know exist.”
City planners hope to have the website up and running within the next 30 to 40 days and the social media app launching shortly after.
