Disabled American Veterans honored Vietnam veterans with appreciation day

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Disabled American Veterans hosted an appreciation day honoring those who served in Vietnam on Friday.

Veterans were treated to a free lunch as a small token of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

The event brought together veterans and community members to reflect and show support, something many Vietnam veterans did not receive when they first returned home.

Organizers say it is important to recognize these heroes and remind them their service is not forgotten.
