Dice game at Yazoo County ranch turns deadly

Seven people were injured and one person died Sunday night when shots were fired at a ranch in rural Yazoo County.

Officials told media outlets that people had gathered at a bonfire and dice game at a ranch in Yazoo County. At some point, shots were fired.

Yazoo County Sheriff Jake Sheriff said a call came in about 12:30 a.m. One person, 27-year-old Christopher Turnage, was flown to UMMC in Jackson, but died of his injuries.

Another person, a 41-year-old woman, was listed as critical. The other five people shot were listed as stable.

Officials told other media outlets that there were no suspects because of the chaos at the scene, although there may have been more than one shooter.
