D’Iberville’s Sanwaa Cooper named MHSAA-NFHS Bowling Coach of the Year, hopes to grow sport across Coast

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — D’Iberville High School bowling coach Sanwaa Cooper was named the MHSAA-NFHS Bowling Coach of the Year last week, and now, he hopes to continue to grow the sport in South Mississippi.

Cooper coached the Warriors to a state title last season, all while seeing his student-athletes grow as confident bowlers and succeed in the classroom as well.

Always humble, Cooper was quick to recognize all of those who have helped pave the way for his team, and others in South Mississippi.

“We have a fantastic bowling community,” Cooper explained. “I can’t say enough about the parents and the young adults that bowl, but I also have to mention the community as a whole. Cypress Bowling Lanes, Spanish Trail, Park Ten Bowling Lane over in Diamondhead, and, like I said, the parents, the administration, my coaching staff.”
