D’Iberville’s Justin Walley was drafted 80th overall in the NFL Draft to the Colts! Hear Walley discuss his journey to Indianapolis.

On Friday night, one D’Iberville natives’ dreams officially turned to reality. While the Indianapolis Colts were on the clock with the 80th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Minnesota cornerback Justin Walley received the call of his life.

“It was very surreal,” said Walley. “Growing up you always see guys get that call, but I think until you really live through that moment you can’t really grasp the magnitude of it and how much it really rattles you inside, and then once I saw it say the Indianapolis Colts I was like, ‘Oh snap, this is the real deal!’ but it’s an honor and it’s a blessing. I’ve been playing since I was five or six, so always striving to get to this moment and finally being able to be in a position that I’m in at the moment is a blessing and it means a lot.”

Once round three of the draft was complete, Colts General Manager Chris Ballard was asked about the talented defensive player. The first words that came to mind? “He’s really good!”

“He’s freaking good,” said Ballard. “He’s really good. He broke his wrist, and in a time where people don’t want to workout, he does everything.. with a cast on. 40 game starter in B1G. He’s athletic, fast, and can play outside and in.”

It’s safe to say Walley is fond of the Colts organization as well, spending time in Indiana just a few weeks ago.

“I took a 30 visit there and I was there I think two weeks ago. The coaching staff is amazing. They have great facilities,” Walley said. “The community and their whole fanbase really supports them. I’ve got a thousand calls and messages from all the Colts fans, so like I said it’s an honor.”

When looking back on his high school career, the 2020 Mr. Football recipient said the D’Iberville community has always supported him and he knows that support will continue in a colts uniform.

“Just the community, and everybody accepting us with open arms and still to this day I have so much support coming from guys from D’Iberville and it means the world to me.”

Walley’s journey with the Colts will began May 8th as he heads north to Indianapolis. from D’Iberville to Indiana, we could not be more proud of you.”
