D’Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce setting up Christmas baskets for the needy

Tomorrow, Christmas baskets are going out to D’Iberville families.

Since the beginning of the D’Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce, annual Christmas baskets full of food have been given to families in need.

Donations from local organizations, businesses, and schools help fill the baskets. This year, D’Iberville Elementary held a food drive to help fill the baskets.

Chamber Executive Director Sissy Andrews said, “We try to do enough in the baskets for Christmas dinner. The most that we’ve ever done in the Christmas baskets is 60 boxes. This year, because of the overwhelming support and generosity of the D’Iberville community, we are doing 75.”

Seventy-five families have already been selected and notified. The generous donations from sponsors made this year’s Christmas basket giveaway the largest to date.
