D’Iberville Rolls Past Seminary 52-13 on Homecoming Night
D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — Homecoming night was in full swing at the newly renovated Warrior Stadium as the D’Iberville Warriors hosted the Seminary Bulldogs Friday night.
Both teams entered the matchup with undefeated 2-0 records, but it was the Warriors who controlled the night, rolling to a 52-13 victory.
D’Iberville wore camouflage uniforms in honor of 9/11, remembering those who lost their lives and recognizing the first responders who continue to serve their communities.
Seminary opened the game with the football, but the Bulldogs struggled to get their offense moving. Brady Chancelor handed the ball to Braxton Barnett, who was stopped at the line of scrimmage.
On third down, Chancelor dropped back and delivered a pass downfield, but Stanley Peters Jr. dropped the ball after hearing footsteps from the defense. Seminary was forced to punt.
The Warriors took advantage of the favorable field position. Quarterback Walley kept the ball to his right and picked up a first down before D’Iberville faced a holding penalty that pushed the offense back 10 yards.
Facing second-and-long, Walley found Chan Harvey on a screen pass, with Harvey picking up 11 yards. On third down, Walley kept the ball on a quarterback draw, but Seminary stopped him short.
That brought up fourth down.
Walley dropped back with plenty of time and found Matthew Fairley in the back of the end zone for the touchdown. The extra point gave D’Iberville a 7-0 lead.
Seminary answered with a big kickoff return from No. 12 Jaricus Keyes, who raced down the field before being tackled at the D’Iberville 1-yard line.
The Bulldogs quickly capitalized. Chancelor handed the ball to Keylan Hatten, who punched it into the end zone for the touchdown.
Seminary missed the extra point, cutting D’Iberville’s lead to 7-6.
The Warriors then came through with a crucial fourth-down conversion from Chan Harvey, who took the handoff on fourth-and-two and moved the chains.
Walley followed with another first-down run, keeping the D’Iberville offense moving.
Later in the drive, the Warriors faced a fourth-and-15. Walley dropped back and found Christian Butler on a screen pass.
Butler did the rest, breaking toward the end zone for another D’Iberville touchdown.
The score marked Walley’s second touchdown throw of the night up until that point and helped the Warriors build momentum that they would carry throughout the game.
D’Iberville went on to pull away from Seminary, finishing the night with a dominant 52-13 Homecoming victory.
The win keeps the Warriors undefeated at 3-0 on the season.
