D’Iberville police chief speaks out on middle school bullying video
Today News 25 spoke with Chief Shannon Nobles about his investigation of a video that allegedly shows a D’Iberville Middle Schooler being bullied.
Chief Nobles says the case is still being investigated and has been given over to youth court.
In the video, a child is seen being slapped by one of his peers. The video is taken off campus, according to D’Iberville Middle School Principal Matthew Elias. The clip ignited a firestorm and demands for an investigation.
Chief Nobles says while he appreciates the concern, the sharing of the video causes more harm than good. “When you repost something like that, you’re victimizing the victim all over again and so we are asking for the video to stop being shared. No more posting. We’re aware of the situation. It’s under investigation and it’s been sent to youth court.”
All students involved in the case have been identified with the help of the Harrison County School District.
