D’Iberville Moose Lodge holds 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive

The D’Iberville Moose Lodge held their annual 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive today.

Since 2002, the D’Iberville Moose Lodge has parked a blood donation truck in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In their first year, there was well over 100 pints donated. In 21 years, they’ve likely been able to donate nearly 1,000.

Moose Lodge Vice President Cindy Shanks said, “I’m not so sure that we thought it was going to happen every year, but it’s just something that we decided as the Moose Lodge that this is something we wanted to do. In honor of so many of our first responders, and just people in general that lost their lives, and like I told you earlier, that means their families lost their lives too. Everyone, those that survived had to start over.”

This year’s blood donations will be used for the Mississippi and Florida Gulf Coast.
