D’Iberville High hosts Veterans Breakfast

As part of the many Veterans Day celebrations along the Gulf Coast, D’Iberville High School’s ROTC program hosted a breakfast honoring local heroes.

Veterans and their families gathered in the D’Iberville High School gym this morning for an array of hot breakfast foods and a salute to those not with us today.

The school welcomed guests from nursing homes and VFWs as well as the families of its students.

From the posting of the colors right at 11, veterans were all smiles until the program wrapped up with a bugle call for the fallen. D’Iberville High Senior Army Instructor Mike Rainey said, “My predecessors have started to give back to the community — the veterans and the community — to show support that America had gotten away from, and showing our veterans the love and the appreciation that we need to show each of these veterans for the sacrifices they’ve made throughout their careers.”

The event saw a turnout of about 120 veterans this year.
