D’Iberville Head Football Coach Larry Dolan leaving for Forrest County AHS

After leading the D’Iberville football program to an overall record of 29-6 over the last three season, it’s hard to think of any reason that makes sense for Head Coach Larry Dolan to leave.

Well, expect for the fact that his name is still on the field house at Forrest County Agriculture High School and that’s the power of home.

After three great years with the Warriors, Dolan is heading back to Brooklyn for his second stint as head coach of the Aggies.

He certainly left his mark the first time around as an assistant from 1990 to 99 and then head coach from 2000 to 2013, ending that final season as 4A state champions at the same school he graduated from back in 1983.

The Aggies could certainly use his help, currently riding a 14-game losing streak dating back to 2020.

In the meantime, Dolan led D’Iberville to three straight playoff appearances including a region 4 class 6A title in 2020 capped off by Justin Walley winning Mr. Football for class 6A.

Truly a great run with the Warriors, but Dolan says he never moved and still drives by his old stomping grounds every day with thoughts of what could be once again. “It’s the best job I’ve had in my career other than Forrest County AHS, and hopefully we can go back and recreate some of those memories. But D’Iberville is a top-notch program, and there’s not a job in the state I would take other than this one. Some things are just meant to be, and I think going home at this time was the right thing for me and my family, but I’m leaving a great place and hopefully going to a place we’ll make great again. And a weird thing is I’ve kept all my old clothes. I’ve got a closet full of maroon jackets and shirts and all of that I pulled out today, and I don’t know, maybe that was a premonition of things to come eight years ago when I left, I might better keep something maroon. I’ve got hopefully 10 years still left in me, and I’d like to coach on for several years, and I don’t want to change colors again.”

Quick turnaround for Dolan who says his last day at D’Iberville is January 31st and his first day back at Forrest County AHS is February 1st.

Dolan heads back to Brooklyn with 159 career wins under his belt.
