D’Iberville beats Harrison Central, wins Region 4 Class 6A Championship

Not quite the match-up we had in mind, for Harrison Central-D’Iberville, after the Red Rebels took their first loss of the season at Hancock last week.

For the first time since 2016, the Warriors are your Region 4 Class 6A Champions. And for the first time since 2016, someone has won the district other than Gulfport.

D’Iberville won the game with a final score of 20-13.

Head Coach Larry Dolan said after the game, “You’ve got some heart. You’ve got some coaches that are warriors, and they put it in y’all. You’ve got some fans right there. They love football at D’Iberville. Man, I love watching you guys play. Great job defense. Great job offense. We’re region champs, baby!”

“Heck, I would’ve taken 6-2 at this time of the year, but great group of kids. And people kind of doubted how good we are. But we’ve beaten everybody we’ve played. And it’s not the most talented group that D’Iberville has ever put out, but they sure do play hard. I’ve been doing this – this is the 30th season – and I still love it. As long as I love it, I’m going to keep going.”

D’Iberville takes on St. Martin at home, on Friday. Meanwhile, Harrison-Central travels to Ocean Springs for a second-place battle.
