D’Iberville baseball duo signs with MGCCC
D’Iberville Head Baseball Coach Cragin Gilbert is going on year ten with the program, but he’s never had this many Warriors sign their national letters of intent before Thanksgiving.
This afternoon, Tyler Gunter and Jeremiah Newman both put pen to paper with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, making that four DHS players to sign in the last week.
Last season, the tandem combined for 25 runs, 26 RBI, nine doubles, and two homers while Gunter struck out more than a batter per inning on the mound.
Now teammates at least twice over, having started their diamond dreams together way back when. Gunter said, “This is something that we’ve been talking about for a while now. It’s really cool that we get to be teammates. We’ve played with each other for a while now ever since we played tee ball, so this is something that we’ve always wanted to do.”
Newman said, “This means a lot to me because I’ve grown up with this guy. I’ve played with him since tee ball, and we’ve just kind of gone through it all together and we get to keep going, so that means a lot to me.”
Last week, Logan Forsythe signed with Mississippi State and Blake Gollott signed with Pearl River Community College.
