D’Iberville Arrest

Today, December 10, 2015, Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrest of 45 year old John Turner Sanders Jr. from Hattiesburg, MS., on the charge of Burglary after video was released of him stealing a refrigerator from a home on Johnson Still Road.

D’Iberville Police Captain Marty Griffin said hours after releasing the homes surveillance footage to local media outlets, Sanders was identified as the person who burglarized the home on Johnson Still Road. The D’Iberville Police Department was contacted by Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies who advised Sanders was identified by a family member and their agency was familiar with Sanders. Lamar County Deputies were actively looking for Sanders when he was observed driving the truck believed used in the burglary and pulling a trailer with a refrigerator on it, believed to be the one stolen from the home in D’Iberville. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Sanders who was then charged with possession of stolen property and booked with no bond in the Lamar County Jail. The D’Iberville Police Department holds an active warrant on Sanders for burglary with a bond of $100,000.00 set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.

Since his arrest, the investigation has revealed Sanders may be responsible for multiple burglaries in the City of D’Iberville, Jackson County and Harrison County. Captain Griffin stated Investigators from D’Iberville, Jackson County and Harrison County are travelling to Lamar County to interview Sanders and attempt to locate other stolen property.

Captain Griffin said Sanders will be brought back to Harrison County after a disposition of the Lamar County charges.
