D’Iberville all-girl’s bass team is headed to nationals in July

Two girls from the DHS Warrior Nation Bass team are headed to nationals later this summer in Dayton, Tennessee.

Two girls from D’Iberville recently won the Mississippi high school state championship for bass fishing, becoming the only all-girl team in the magnolia state to do so.

Now the girls are now preparing to compete at the national level.

Olivia King and Harper Krohn spoke about the recent championship win, and the preparation for nationals.

“For me, I was very excited. I was speechless,” said King

“I was excited but at the same time I was nervous for what was next. It just stressed me out a little bit,” stated Krohn.  I’m very thankful for the opportunity to go and fish for nationals. It’s gonna be something different because I’ve never fished up there. Neither one of us have fished anywhere over there.”

The girls then spoke on what it means to be an example to other girls who may want to fish professionally.

“It’s very exciting to get to be an example for other girls around and show that girls can do it too,” said King.

“I think it’s really cool because I know a lot of girls are scared to do it and they think it’s something only guys would want to do. I feel like with us doing that it would show them that girls are just as able to accomplish the same amount as guys,” said Krohn.
