Diamondhead PD hosts National Night Out Block Party

The annual National Night Out was held tonight in Diamondhead.

The Diamondhead Police Department and McGruff the Crime Dog hosted a block party to build police-community relationships.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at four different neighborhood locations, residents could talk with officers, take pictures with McGruff and eat free hot dogs, cookies, chips, and drinks. Diamondhead Police Captain AJ Gambino said, “We’re trying to set a tone with the children that the police are your friend. We’re not here as enemies and we also got McGruff involved in doing that. We hope that gets instilled in the children to know that they can come to the police when something happens.”

The annual trick or treat is Tuesday, October 19th at the Club at Diamondhead parking lot.
