Diamondhead named finalist in ‘Bark for Your Park’ contest

The City of Diamondhead is set to open a new dog park for residents soon and are hoping to receive some extra funding for the project.

The city has been named a finalist in the PetSafe ‘Bark for your Park’ contest to win a $25,000 grant to help fund their new dog park.

PetSafe has been running this competition for ten years and has donated more than $1.5 million to dog parks across the country.

This year, the contest opened up with hundreds of entries and has been cut down to just 20 contenders.

Of these finalists, only ten will be given grants to fund their parks. Votes will be accepted until August 31st and winners will be announced September 2nd.  Diamondhead Mayor Nancy Depreo said, “We see tremendous support with our residents. They’re posting on Facebook daily, very creative posts, trying to reach out and let the residents and remind them to vote every day until August 31st. It’s very important and anybody in any city, in any state, can vote for the Diamondhead Dog Park. So, we’re hoping that the Coast will help support us.”
