Diamondhead mayor presents new projects at monthly ward meeting

No seats were empty at Diamondhead’s monthly ward meeting Saturday as residents came to learn about growth in the city.

Diamondhead has a lot of new projects going on within the next couple of months. Mayor Nancy Depreo presented development plans for a new kayak launch, a waterfront space, a new boat launch, and a new commercial development.

$4 million in funding for all new projects has already been approved, the city is just waiting for construction plans to be finished.

MDOT will be at the next ward meeting on October 15th to discuss Exit 16 improvements on the interstate. Mayor Depreo said, “Very exciting to see residents engaged and that’s what we want. That’s the purpose of the ward meetings. We want them to ask questions. We want them to be engaged. We want them to be involved in every decision the city council makes. It’s an honor to be able to serve the residents of Diamondhead and I consider this something giving back to the community. Not a job, but something giving back. I love meeting the residents, working on projects, and moving Diamondhead into 2040.”
