Both won with a majority of the votes.

The Ward 2 seat was vacated when Alan Moran resigned after being indicted on sex charges involving a juvenile stemming from an incident on Feb. 14. He has not yet gone to trial to face those charges.

The Ward 3 seat was vacated when Ricky Sheppard stepped down after his family moved from Ward 3 to Ward 2. Sheppard ran for the Ward 2 post but finished second in the voting to Liese.

Mayor Nancy Depreo said the new council members would be sworn in soon and would attend their first meeting on May 17.

“We are excited to have two new faces on the City Council,” Depreo said.
