Dewitt’s Attorney Files for New Trial
The attorney representing the former Hancock County High School coach who was found guilty of touching a student and sentenced to 30 years is asking for a new trial.
News 25 has obtained the three documents that Attorney Jim Davis filed Monday afternoon on Danielle Dewitt’s behalf.
While one motion asks for a new trial, another motion requests consideration to lessen the 30 year prison sentence. The third motion asks for bond pending an appeal.
Last week, a jury found Dewitt guilty on two counts of touching a 16-year-old for lustful purposes. The teenager was on Dewitt’s basketball team.
