Dewitt To Hear Back On Appeal Today

Today a judge is expected to issue a ruling on a request for bond in the case of a former Hancock High School coach sentenced to 30 years in prison for unlawful touching of a child for lustful purposes.
Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois (booj-wah) handed down the maximum sentence allowed by law, sentencing Dewitt to 15 years on each count, to be served consecutively.
Dewitt’s attorney, Jim Davis, has stated that once the judge rules on the motion for bond, the defense plans to file a notice of appeal of the judgment.
This after Judge Bourgeois recently refused Dewitt’s request in circuit court for appeal in the case.
