UPDATE: Law enforcement agencies capture murder suspect in Harrison County

A suspect in a homicide case was captured just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night. Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley said.

Bricen J. Rivers was charged with murder. He was taken to Harrison County jail and bond was set at $1 million.

Numerous law enforcement agencies were searching for the suspect in Harrison County since mid-afternoon.

Haley said Rivers was taken into custody without incident, citing the number of law enforcement involved in the search, which began around 3 p.m. whin Harrison County Sheriff’s deputies got word of a vehicle at the cemetery on Cemetery Road near Lizana, connected to a missing persons case out of Hattiesburg.

When deputies located and approached the car, a man ran away from the vehicle. Deputies then found a dead woman inside the vehicle.

Harrison County coroner Brian Switzer confirmed the identity of the woman as 22-year-old Lauren Johansen of Hattiesburg.

Johansen is originally from the coast, believed to have been going to school in Hattiesburg.
