Deputy Jeremy Malone laid to rest in George County

Law enforcement officials from as far as New York came to support Deputy Malone’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Governor Tate Reeves and many local law enforcement officials were in attendance to show their support.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter was a pallbearer. Pastor of Agricola Baptist Church and Chaplin of George County Sheriff’s Department Tommy Mitchell served as clergy of the funeral service.

Mitchell shared a few words about Malone and how to support the people he leaves behind. “When any of our officers come to this kind of sacrifice and give their life and their duty. It is a brotherhood like none other. More than anything to support their family, his wife, his children. That’s our primary goal here today. We are wanting to make sure that they’re able to continue their life and become whole again. He had a great sense of humor. And he was also a very kind and gentle guy. He loved people, tried to respect everybody.”
