Department of Public Safety opens new headquarters as agency consolidates divisions
In 2019, construction began on a new $70 million state of the art Mississippi Department of Public Safety Headquarters in Pearl, just outside of Jackson.
The goal was to bring 11 different units under DPS supervision, located in offices spread around the metro area, under one roof.
The ribbon was cut on the new complex in April.
This year, the legislature approved a measure to consolidate the 11 divisions of DPS into four units.
The consolidation of DPS services becomes official in late July.
