Demolition at USM Gulf Park
The last of the temporary modular classrooms at USM’s Gulf Park campus are finally coming down. They will be making way for a brand new state of the art facility.
A construction project that will transform the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus is underway with demolition of the former Holloway Complex. The new $7 million facility will be the permanent home for the colleges of business and health. University officials are excited to have safer, building code constructed permanent facilities that are extremely important in hurricane zones.
Dr. Steve Miller, vice president of USM Gulf Park campus, said, “This was the last of the buildings that we have that were hosting classes in them that were in modular type units. This provides a brand new state of the art permanent structure that’s a very safe environment yet provides new classroom space for the entire campus.”
The new building will start going up in January and construction will wrap up just in time for fall 2017 classes.
