Democrat Brandon Presley announces run for Mississippi governor

Another candidate has filed to run for governor in this year’s state election: Democrat Brandon Presley.

Presley is the first prominent Democrat to announce a run against incumbent Republican Governor Tate Reeves.

Presley is a former mayor of Nettleton and currently represents the Northern District on the Public Service Commission, the only Democrat to serve on that commission.

In a statement, Presley says he plans to focus on ethics, healthcare, and vocational education as part of his campaign.
