Delisle Elementary students create Mardi Gras floats
Delisle Elementary School certainly ‘let the good times roll’ to celebrate the Mardi Gras season.
The students usually host a school parade but because of COVID restrictions it was canceled so they came up with something new and safe.
Students participated in a hallway Mardi Gras parade by creating a shoebox float. Floats were created at home and displayed in the grand hallway.
Students and teachers also decorated their doors and the two classes that had the best door decorations received a King Cake party.
Delisle Elementary Counselor Rebecca Dodd tells News 25 kids really enjoyed making the floats. “The kids and parents went all out with their creativity. We have a Saints float, unicorn floats, of course because unicorns are so big right now, Barbie, G.I. Joe, and just anything you can think of. They did a really great job.”
Delisle Elementary is thinking about making the hand-made Mardi Gras floats an annual event.
