Deep South Regatta kicks off

It’s time to sail away for a competitive race on the water in Ocean Springs.

Fourteen boats and competitors from across the country are participating in the ‘Formula Wave Deep South Regional Regatta’ at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club.

Sailors race Hobie wave catamarans on buoyed courses along Biloxi Bay during the regatta, which kicked off today and features races through Sunday.

Regatta Chair Pattie Hogan says visiting sailors enjoy the hospitality of the Ocean Springs area. “Competitors love to come to Ocean Springs. The hospitality here, the food, we have a party offsite in downtown Ocean Springs today. We have events here at the club. Everyone loves coming to Ocean Springs and we always have a really great time.”

This marks the second year the regatta has set sail.
