Dedication ceremony held for Finley Cemetery historical marker
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A piece of Mississippi history is now permanently preserved in Harrison County.
Wednesday morning, community members gathered to honor the legacy of the Finley community with the unveiling a new historical marker.
Rich history took center stage as the Finley community and its historic cemetery received a brand-new marker.
The dedication ceremony brought together local leaders, and residents all reflecting on the deep roots and lasting impact of the Finley and Lyman areas.
The project marks the culmination of a long-term effort led by Finley native Michael Switzer, who worked alongside several organizations to bring the vision to life.
While the cemetery sits just outside Gulfport city limits, organizers say its historical significance reaches far beyond serving as a reminder of the people and stories that helped shape the region.
