Dedeaux Road project moves forward

The Gulfport City Council approved the advertisement of bids for the multi-million dollar Dedeaux Road widening project at this afternoon’s city council meeting.
Bids for the construction of Dedeaux Road widening phase one have a due date of June 13th. When completed, Dedeaux Road from DeDe Drive to Three Rivers Road will be widened from two to four lanes.
Those who travel in the area often say this is a project that’s highly anticipated and long overdue. Gulfport resident Glenda Morgan said, “I think four lanes is going to be excellent if that’s what’s going to happen because of the constant traffic that we’re in and growth of this, north of the interstate in Gulfport. I think it’s going to be excellent and I’m just waiting for it. I’m excited.”
The Mississippi Department of Transportation authorized the city to proceed with advertisement for construction.
