Deadline approaching to ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’

Those interested in the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program have a couple of days left to give a special holiday gift to an older adult who may otherwise go without.

This year, program coordinators hope to collect gifts for local older adults. To participate, shoppers can look for the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ tree or display at a CVS location around the area. Pick an ornament off the tree featuring the name and desired gift of an older adult.

Shoppers can buy the requested gift and return it unwrapped back to the CVS location with the ornament attached. The gifts will be delivered in time for the holidays.

So far only 53 out of 148 names have been taken from the trees. Home Instead Home Care Consultant Christopher Thompson said, “All the individuals on these trees are people who are less fortunate, who either lost a family member due to hospice, or is a home health patient who is down on their luck, or a hospital patient who is being discharged without any family. So, these are all individuals who could really benefit from something cheery and happy this Christmas season.”

Friday is the deadline for the program. For more information, visit beasantatoasenior.com or call 228-818-6110.
