Daqs for Dawgs Cornhole Tournament and Adoption event in Long Beach

A local daiquiri shop is helping one nonprofit organization find forever homes for their four-legged friends.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi teamed up with Coastal Daiquiri Shop in downtown Long Beach and Tito’s Vodka for the inaugural Daqs for Dawgs Cornhole Tournament and Adoption Event.

It was a chance for the community to learn more about the adoption process and engage with the puppies while enjoying some friendly competition.

HSSM Development Director Katie King hopes the event becomes a tradition on the Coast. “We’re hoping to spread awareness about adoptions. Obviously get some of these babies some homes and raise some funds for our sheltered pets which is all happening here today. So, we’re really grateful for the Coastal Daiquiri Shop for letting us partner with them on this awesome event and we’re hoping that this will be an annual event each April.”

When our cameras arrived on the scene, four dogs had already been adopted. The cornhole tournament’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners also went home with cash prizes.
