Dad Arrested for Fire that Left Seven Year Old Daughter Dead
A 28 year old man is facing second degree murder charges after authorities say he is responsible for a house fire that killed his seven year old daughter.
David Floyd Junior was taken to Lee County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bond. As deputies put him in a patrol car, he called out “I love my family.”
Sheriff Jim Johnson says last Tuesday emergency crews were called to the scene of a fire. They found that a 26 year old woman, one year old girl and a two month old boy had escaped from the house with minor injuries. Fire crews found seven year old Savannah Floyd in a bedroom. She was taken to a children’s hospital, where she died.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating and says more charges could be filed.
