CTA resumes services with some restrictions
After nearly a month without local bus services, Coast Transit Authority has resumed operations to the public with some restrictions.
This comes after Governor Tate Reeves’ ‘shelter in place’ order expired Monday, easing travel restrictions and essential errands.
CTA is now offering fixed route services from 7 a.m.t o 7 p.m. on a 90 minute time interval Monday through Saturday. There will not be any services on Sunday at this time.
Executive Director Kevin Coggin says he understands the potential health risks that could come with riding public transportation at this time but ensures customers CTA is doing what they can to create a safe space to help Coast residents get back to where they need to be. “What we did before we put the buses out there, we hired a company to come out and fog them with disinfectants so the buses have been totally disinfected. Our maintenance departments are doing additional disinfecting in high touch areas every night. We are providing hand sanitizer on the buses and facilities for the customers. We just want to get out there and serve the public and do our part to open the community within restrictions and get a safe bus service out there, a safe reliable service is what we’re focusing on right now.”
CTA is limiting services to ten riders at a time. All passengers are required to wear a mask when on a bus or waiting at a facility and they must continue to social distance at six feet apart.
They ask passengers to limit their trips on CTA bus services to medical needs, nutrition, and employment.
