CTA offering free rides for those in the Mardi Gras spirit on Fat Tuesday

You can get a ticket to ride, for free, if you get into the Mardi Gras spirit next Tuesday.

February 16th is Fat Tuesday and while there won’t be any parades winding down South Mississippi streets, the Coast Transit Authority is rolling out an incentive to get folks into the Mardi Gras spirit.

The CTA is offering free rides all day Tuesday, February 16th to any person who wears one or all of the following:

  • Mardi Gras beads around their neck
  • Mardi Gras mask
  • Mardi Gras hat
  • Mardi Gras themed shirt

CTA Director Kevin Coggin said, “We’re unable to have parades and mass gatherings, but we still want to have fun. Mardi Gras is a big deal. We celebrate it. It’s a holiday for CTA, too. We want our passengers to have fun, too. Our drivers are going to dress up in Mardi Gras attire.”

All CTA buses and trolleys will run on a Sunday schedule on Mardi Gras Day.
