CSX Transportation presented check to Long Beach teacher

Good news coming out of Long Beach as a representative from CSX Transportation presented a $5,000 check to Long Beach teacher Carol Paola this morning to celebrate a piece of the city’s history.

The money will go towards showcasing the impact of railroads in South Mississippi. It is also geared to raise awareness for railroad safety in the city.

Paola tells News 25 students will play a major role in other projects as well. “Children are going to do research to identify issues related to the railroad. ‘Operation Lifesaver’ is one they will actually be pushing out to other schools in our community and possibly other communities on the Coast. Then we are going to develop the history part of it, researching the history of the railroad.”

Paola tells News 25 they also plan to use some of the money to enhance the playground area at Thomas L. Reeves Elementary.
