Cruisin’ the Coast honors veterans at annual Salute to Our Veterans Event
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Day three of Cruisin’ the Coast turned Jones Park into a hub of classic cars, live entertainment, and a special tribute to our veterans.
Jones Park transformed into Cruise Central as thousands of classic cars rolled through the area to take a moment to honor the veterans who served our country. Cruiser and Marine Corps Veteran Wade Williams said, “There’s a lot of people here that help each other out. Cars break down on side of the road. It’s an opportunity for us as veterans to meet and share war stories of our veteran’s experience. There’s camaraderie not only in the military service, but also in car clubs and things like that.”
Day three featured a special salute to our veterans with the presentation of colors as the Victory Belles sang the national anthem.
The celebration continued with local vendors and a live performance from Garry ‘Elvis’ Wesley. Cruiser Mike Tullos said, “I really enjoyed it! For a first timer this is fantastic seeing beautiful cars and meeting beautiful nice people. I wouldn’t trade this for nothing in the world. It is great. I thank the lord for this opportunity.”
From muscle cars and vintage rides to custom builds, there was something for every car lover to enjoy.
