Cruisin’ the Coast Brings the Cars to the Boyington

Cruisin’ the Coast is now in full swing, but some people in the community can’t make it to the many events, so Cruisin’ will be brought to them. The residents of the Boyington, many who are unable to leave, got a blast for the past Tuesday as Cruisin’ the Coast was brought to them.

For the second year in a row, the Boyington brought dozens of classic car owners, food, and live music to their grounds to give residents the authentic Cruisin’ the Coast experience from the comfort of their own homes. Directors of the Boyington tell News 25 why the event is so important.

Darlene Currie, Activity Director at the Boyington, says, “Seeing the cars brings back a lot of memories for the residents. They can relate a lot because a lot of them had these cars back, you know, at one time or another, plus they don’t get to get out a lot, you know, into the community a lot, so bringing things like this to them makes them very happy and helps fulfill our jobs.”

Leslie Buckler, Community Relations Director at the Boyington, says, “We’re grilling, barbecuing, they can come out, view the cars, and that’s really what it’s all about, bringing the community to the Boyington.”

Cruisin’ fans look forward to the event again next year.
