Cruisin’ the Coast voted best car show in America
The results are in and the best car show in America is the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s very own Cruisin’ the Coast.
USA Today released the winners of their ten best reader’s choice awards for 2018 and Cruisin’ the Coast was voted America’s best car event in an online nationwide poll. Voting opened about a month ago and wrapped up in late July.
Cruisin’ the Coast Director Woody Bailey tells News 25 what an honor this award is for them. “For us to come out on top is just a neat thing to happen to us. It’s just a testament to the hard work that all of us put into this event. This award is not just for Cruisin’ the Coast; to me it’s for all of us up and down the whole Gulf Coast.”
With this new title of Best Car Show in America, Cruisin’ the Coast is expecting a bigger crowd this year. They’re also going to need more volunteers. “We’re finding that we’re needing more help. So, we’re asking the community to join our crew that we’re calling ‘Cruisin’ Krewe.’”
Volunteers will be doing anything from directing traffic to helping with registration. Right now they have 5,455 pre-registered cars. This number will most likely grow with pre-registration ending on August 15th.
Coordinators are deep into planning for this year’s event and are ready to welcome Cruisers to the Gulf Coast. “What really makes Cruisin’ the Coast such a success are all the people here on the Gulf Coast. We treat people right. They enjoy our area. They enjoy the food. They enjoy everything we have to offer. They go home and tell their friends about it. So, our hospitality is really paramount to our success,” said Bailey.
Cruisin’ the Coast revs up on September 30th and wraps up on October 7th. If you want to volunteer or register for the event visit cruisinthecoast.com.
