Cruisin’ the Coast impact
Numbers continue to rev up for the highly anticipated 2017 Cruisin’ the Coast.
In an economic impact update, Executive Director Woody Bailey says 7,117 vehicles are preregistered which is 487 ahead of where they were last year. Thirty nine states are represented plus Canada, Puerto Rico, and Germany. However, Bailey addressed the impact Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have already caused in registration. So far, two people in San Antonio and Houston have called about canceling.
Even though the refund deadline passed on September 1st, Cruisin’ officials are going to accommodate for the victims in the storms. “We’re going to treat these people right. This is what we did last year with the flooding in Louisiana and Baton Rouge area. If someone wants a cancelation and they’re in that affected area, that’ll include Florida now as well, we’re going to give them a full refund of their money,” said Bailey.
Bailey also voiced concerns about traffic with the Gulfport Music Festival, which is scheduled during Cruisin’ the Coast. Bailey says he is going to work with Gulfport police and city officials to come up with an effective plan to ease any possible traffic issues during the festival.
