Cruisers drive through Goula Cruise at Beach Park
Cruisin’ the Coast is all about antique cars but in Pascagoula when they say they have antique cars they mean it.
It was all smiles and sunshine in Beach Park where Pascagoula hosted their Goula Cruise event.
They had all the trapping of a Cruisin’ the Coast event with good food, live music.
Some classic cars for Cruisers to enjoy, but some drivers had to cruise a long way to be here.
Cruiser Daniel Mosthes said, “We came from Yuba City, California which is about 50 miles north of Sacramento. I am 75 years old now. So, I said I better do it before I don’t have time. You guys put on a nice event. The people are so friendly here I’m amazed. It’s not like California.”
But there’s a couple things that sets the Goula Cruise apart from all the other Cruisin’ the Coast events.
One of the biggest is the WWII era cars section which features only cars produced between 1939 and 1945.
With Pascagoula designated as a WW2 Heritage City it’s only right they feature some cars from the era.
“The City of Pascagoula was named a World War II Heritage City for the state of Mississippi in 2022. We have placed the World War II Heritage area for our cruisers because we wanted to designate an area showcasing our heritage and our pride.”
This is all in an effort to make Pascagoula’s Cruisin’ the Coast event stand out from the rest.
Mayor Jay Willis said, “Pascagoula cruise is different for so many reasons. The venue is wonderful. It’s a Beach Park. We have wonderful oak trees with lots of shade. A constant breeze coming off the Gulf. Plenty to do and it feels like every year we get more cruisers coming to Pascagoula.”
It may be a bit further down the Coast but with good eats, good music, great shade, and even better cars the Goula Cruise is truly a can’t miss event.
