Crossing arms now up at Pump Branch Road in Stone County

STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- New safety measures are now in place at the site where five people were killed in a collision in late March in the Bond community of Stone County.

Pump Branch Road now has full crossing arms with flashing lights, put into place by MDOT workers.

Prior to these crossing upgrades, there was only signage indicating that the road was a railroad crossing.

Just this year alone, there have been two serious collisions between trains and other vehicles at that crossing.

MDOT began working with railroad officials shortly after the second crash this year to put these more robust measures in place.
